Arabs eyeing Brazilian Footwear

The Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) promoted the VIP Buyer Project with buyers of the Arab NTDE Group, from Dubai. The action is promoted through the Brazilian Footwear, footwear exports promotion program developed in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The action, which took place from December 10 to 14, consisted of 15 meetings and technical visits to factories, malls, and shopping complexes in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo.

Buyers Sabi Behzadi and Foroogh Ahmadi praised the quality of Brazilian products and the competitive price for the demanding Arab market. "We expect to work with up to five Brazilian brands," Behzadi says. The NTDE group, focused on distribution and retail, has more than 100 stores of the most diverse segments spread in the Persian Gulf Region - in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to a report prepared by Abicalçados, the expectation regarding deals is around 50 thousand pairs in coming months. "This is a very significant figure, due to the potential of the group and to the fact there is a large market to be explored in the region," says Abicalçados' Trade Promotion analyst Ruisa Scheffel, revealing that the average price of shoes desired by the company is US$ 25. "That is, US$ 1.25 million may be generated with the action," Scheffel adds.

The Arab market, represented by Saudi Arabia, is regarded as a target market by the Brazilian Footwear for the 2019/2020 biennium. Between January and November, the country imported the equivalent to US$ 4 million in Brazilian shoes.
