Micam Milano will feature a record number of Brazilian brands10/09/2019
Regarded as one of the largest and most important footwear fairs in the world, Micam Milano will feature the participation of 76 Brazilian brands, a record at the trade show. The fair takes place from September 15 to 18, in Milan/Italy. The participation is supported by the Brazilian Footwear, footwear exports promotion program developed by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Abicalçados' Trade Promotion analyst Paola Pontin highlights that the expectation is positive, especially due to the current moment of Brazilian exports, with the appreciated dollar, Mercosur's trade agreement with the European Union, and the trade war between the United States and China, which has been increasing the demand for Brazilian shoes by US importers. "The record number of exhibiting brands, in addition to our waiting list, is an indication that the expectation is very positive," Pontin assesses. She adds that the fact that the fair launches spring-summer collections, the Brazilian specialty, is another attractive.
Celebrating 50 years of trade fairs, Micam Milano takes place twice a year and features on average 1.5 thousand exhibitors from over 30 countries per edition, mainly from Europe. The quantity of visitors is equally large and the visitors are highly specialized, with professionals with great decision-making power, which makes the trade show register large volumes of sales. According to a report prepared by Abicalçados, last year the Brazilian participation of 71 brands generated over USD 37 million, combining deals closed on the spot and those that began to be negotiated during the event.
According to data provided by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (SECEX), 76.66 million pairs were shipped between January and August, generating USD 644 million, an 8.2% increase in volume and a 2.5% increase in revenues in comparison with the same period last year.
