Italian footwear fair will feature 76 Brazilian brands06/02/2020
The Italian fair Micam, regarded as the largest in the world for the footwear industry, will feature 76 Brazilian brands, which will join another 1.4 thousand exhibitors from 30 countries that manufacture footwear. They will be exhibiting their products for the Winter 2020 season from February 16 to 19, in Milan. The participation is supported by the Brazilian Footwear, footwear exports promotion program developed by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil).
Abicalçados' Trade Promotion analyst Paola Pontin will accompany the action. She highlights that the expectation is positive, given the appreciation of the dollar, which makes the Brazilian price more competitive abroad, as well as the prospects for the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union, signed in June 2019. With more than 50 thousand visitors, the Italian trade show receives many European buyers, who, according to Pontin, "have been looking more closely at the Brazilian product" due to the expected ratification of the trade agreement. According to her, countries in the European Union imported 21.6 million Brazilian pairs last year, for which USD 162 million were paid, a 22% increase in volume and an 8.4% increase in revenues, well above the general average (0.9% positive in terms of volume and 0.9% negative in terms of revenues).
In addition to the trading platform, five Brazilian brands will be at Micam's fashion show, which has great international visibility. The brands Schutz, Ramarim, Comfortflex, Suzana Santos, and Zatz participate in the event, which is scheduled for February 16 and 18.
According to Pontin, the Italian trade show is the most profitable in the roster of events supported by the Brazilian Footwear internationally. In February last year, the trade show generated USD 24.37 million.
