Buyer project generates over US$ 100 thousand for footwear manufacturers

The VIP Buyer Project will likely generate US$ 107 thousand in businesses deals. The program is carried out within the scope of the Brazilian Footwear, footwear exports promotion program developed by the Brazilian Footwear Industries Association (Abicalçados) in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil). The action was held from November 12 to 21, with visits to factories in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo, in addition to a participation in the footwear fair Zero Grau.

Abicalçados' Trade Promotion analyst, Paola Pontin, highlighted that even though the report foresees US$ 107 thousand in deals negotiated during the action, the figure will likely be bigger due to the potential of the buyers – the Colombian companies Totto and Bata and the Chalhoub Group from the United Arab Emirates. "The report features the estimates for the six upcoming months. However, the relationship established with the initiative may generate several results," said Pontin.

According to the analyst, the group Totto is present in 55 countries in addition to Colombia, with over 700 establishments – 320 outside their home country.  The group Bata, in turn, works with products with higher value added, with an average price of US$ 20 per pair. It has 12 stores in Colombia.  Chalhoub, on the other hand, has more than 500 stores and imports over US$ 1 million per year, especially from large French and Italian brands.

Hospitality
Bata's buyer, Daniela Aristizabal, highlighted the hospitality of the project and the quality of Brazilian products. "We already work with Brazil, but we would like to strengthen this relationship. We placed orders of samples with new potential suppliers," she said. Totto, one of the largest retail chains in Colombia, was also satisfied with the initiative. "The products are very qualified," said Andrés Parra, the company's buyer.

Currently counting on only one Brazilian supplier, the group Chalhoub also intends to improve its relationship with Brazilian brands.  "We intend to begin working with more suppliers already in the next season," said Reda Keddaji, the chain's buyer.

This edition of the VIP Buyer Project was carried out in two moments. The first included visits of the Arab group to 13 factories in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. During the second moment, the Colombians participated in the fair Zero Grau, held in the city of Gramado (in the state of Rio Grande do Sul) from November 19 to 21.
